Get A Good Tree Or Die Trying A Christmas Story edition by Ray Allman Ryne Douglas Pearson Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

I make it a point to read a couple of Christmas stories, as well as watch a few of my favorite films, during the holiday season. My favorite are the comedies; the mishaps of regular folk trying their best to emerge from December unscathed.

Get a Good Tree or Die Trying was so funny and exactly what I was looking for. I can envision it being made into a film, (it was that good) and I'd be first in line to see it.

If you love "Christmas Vacation" or David Sedaris' work, you'll really enjoy this short. It's one of my new faves. Great job, Ray Allman!
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read -- it comes as a nice respite from all this crazy holiday noise.

I had little idea what to expect to be quite honest -- though the cover gave me some idea. But from the first page on I was hooked -- my kind of snarky humor, a good story that flowed, and as a wife and mother, I could relate to every word!

Men -- if you have ever had to put up a Christmas tree -- and who hasn't? This book is for you. Women -- it's a laughfest -- I can't recommend it highly enough.

FIVE BIG STARS!

Rachel Thompson, bestelling author, A Walk in the Snark and The Mancode Exposed
This is a very funny short piece about the misadventures of a man forced by circumstances and his wife into buying the family Christmas tree. The laid-back sort who would be happy with one from the Charlie Brown store, our hero, Ray, sets out with his four-year-old son on a hilarious quest for the perfect tree. Pick up this little bit of humor for the holidays and enjoy one of the season's traditions. Highly recommended!
This is a very humorous account about Christmas tension ... no doubt more true than fiction! The 'Wife' is very determined not to deviate from the tradition of getting THE Christmas tree no earlier, nor later, than the second Saturday before Christmas. But the night before, she has to rush to her pregnant sister who is in labor at a hospital ... out of town. She will be gone several days, so hubby takes a deep breath and thinks he'll enjoy a little holiday of peace. Right? No ... wrong! This is so funny and what a perfect time to read this short, hilarious story. Grab it now! You will laugh so hard, people will think you must know something they don't! Enjoy the joy of Christmas!
When I downloaded this story, I was excited to spend a few minutes reading a short Christmas story that would make me laugh and put me in a holiday mood. I have an appreciation for sitcoms and Dave Barry always has me in stitches, so after reading the reviews I thought I had picked a winner. Unfortunately, I found it to be a letdown.

I expected the gender stereotyping for comedic effect, but those jokes are only funny if they're clever variations on the theme. For whatever reason, Ray's 'I'm an idiotic dude trying ineptly to please my domineering wife'' attitude made me roll my eyes more than laugh out loud. His son was cute, and the true to life boy's antics provided me with a few chuckles. Although I had to read most of Ray's text message conversations with his wife twice to make sure I understood them, my only true laugh came from the autocorrect joke at the end of the story.

The writing itself was good, and the plot line was a nice set up for comedy. I really wanted to like this story, and hopefully others will find it more humorous than I did. Maybe the reviews let me to set my expectations too high. I was hoping for some belly laughs. Instead I finished it with a 'meh', and deleted it from my .
The Christmas tree has to be in the house on the second weekend of December, and that's all there is to it. And it has to be the perfect tree. That's the way Ray's wife was brought up and that's the way it will always be. Oh, and it has to come from the same Christmas tree farm every year. The same one she visited as she grew up and the same one that the owners just kicked Ray and his son out of. Ray is a relaxed kind of guy and had planned on watching TV and just laying around the house all weekend. Not a chance.

This short story about going to get the Christmas tree with his son while the wife is away for the weekend is hilarious. Nearly every paragraph has something funny happen or else there is humor in the writing in some way. I laughed out loud all the way through. For a short and very uplifting Christmas story give this one a try.

It's a good story to get out each year to reread.
