This book is the latest addition to the Crossroads series, but can be read as a standalone. Virginia "Ginny" Valentine is a very popular country singer. Dax is a former special forces soldier who now works for a security firm. He and Ginny met at a local event where she provided the entertainment. When he first saw her, Dax shocked himself (and his best friend) by announcing to his friend that he was going to marry her. He'd never had a real relationship, only very short-term sex with women who knew ahead of time that he wasn't offering anything more. Ginny spent an innocent night at his house during which they just talked and slept. When he woke up the next morning she was gone, leaving just a brief note on a napkin. He hasn't been able to get her out of his mind and hasn't felt interest in any other woman since. There hasn't been any contact between them at all. One day she suddenly shows up on his doorstep with a suitcase, reminding him he'd told her she could stay at his house if she ever came back to town. She's in town to record an album with another singer. However, her primary reason for returning is that she hasn't been able to forget Dax either. In fact, Ginny, who's been very sheltered and isolated all her life, wants Dax to be the one to end her virginity, as she wants/hopes to explore the chemistry that was evident from their first meeting. The situation is complicated when they find out that Ginny's overprotective mother who's out of the country for a month-long honeymoon has hired Dax through his security firm to be her bodyguard while she's in town. Dax tries to be professional and squelch inappropriate feelings and actions once he becomes her security. But Ginny has other ideas. The sudden appearance of his mom and sister (who are huge Ginny fans) at his house for a surprise visit as well as leaked songs from the album she's working on, a pretend Hollywood boyfriend media circus, and a horde of paparazzi that descend on the town complicate their budding romance. When Ginny's mom shows up after cutting her honeymoon short and whisks her away, Ginny and Dax separate without forewarning and without sharing their true feelings for each other. This was a GREAT story. Lots of chemistry and heart. Dax's rant at a wedding reception about Ginny is really touching and romantic.

Another great read from the sister writing team. It is always great to read how a man who does not attach to any of the one night stands he has falls head over heels without instant sex.
It was a fun story because Funny was a 22 yr old country singing star who started her career in her early teens and was so busy working she never dated or had any romantic experience with the opposite sex. When the two meet and spend time together just talking all night. They fall for each other. But if course there are obstacles and people messing up their romance and making them doubt the other could share their feeling since they had not talked about it.
I don't like reviews that tell the story, so I'll just tell you what I liked and didn't like about this story, instead.

I have been a Melanie Shawn fan for quite a while now, and so far I've enjoyed all of her books. But...I'm not gonna lie, I almost gave up on this one after the first few chapters. Why? Because there was so much internal dialogue going on, and not much else. I know it was needed to set the story up, but so much of it was repetitious. Really. How many ways can you say the same thing, and have it mean the same exact thing over and over again.

But....I didn't give up and I am so glad I didn't, because it turned out to be a really great read after all.

The chemistry between Dax and Ginny was so electric! But the close friendship they had formed together, was even more special. Ginny was so sweet and innocent, which makes the reason Dax felt so protective of her, feel more realistic. And Dax? Oh boy....that guy can protect me any time he wants to, for sure. I also loved the cameos by characters from previous books, especially Grandpa J. I just love that guy to pieces.

The Crossroads series keeps growing and it keeps getting better and better with each new installment! This is the 11th book in this series and while it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone and the reader will enjoy it to the fullest.

This is never more clear after spending one night in the presence of Dax Archer where all they did was talk. Months later Ginny still can't get that night, or that man off her mind.

Dax Archer is former Special Ops and while he's more than experienced where women are concerned, he's never been affected by a woman the way he was after talking for hours on end with Ginny. Or will things quickly go back to the way they were and will Ginny lose the one person that has managed to make her feel safe and centered?

I loved how Melanie Shawn crafted a story that had innocence, emotion and heart mixed in with a heaping serving of heat! The chemistry that Dax and Ginny had was electric! I love this author and their books are always a "one-click" for me. I would highly recommend this book and all of the others in the series!
